Bloomingdale Public Schools is pleased to welcome Mr. Scott Martin as the new principal of Bloomingdale Elementary School.

Mr. Martin brings 16 years of experience in education, including service as a building principal, administrator, consultant, special education teacher, and coach. Most recently, he served as an elementary principal with Menominee Area Public Schools. His background also includes special education leadership, instructional support, staff development, and experience working in a smaller district setting.

As an instructional leader, Mr. Martin is focused on helping create the conditions for every student to learn, grow, and succeed.

“My focus as an instructional leader is to make sure we maximize opportunities for each student to learn, improve, and succeed,” Martin said. “I feel very fortunate to be able to join your district as the principal of Bloomingdale Elementary School. I am eager to become an integral part of your school and your community.”

Mr. Martin grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and has spent most of his life in that area. He and his family recently moved downstate to be closer to his wife’s parents. He and his wife have two young children, a 6-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son. Outside of school, Mr. Martin enjoys spending time outdoors, including hiking, hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Superintendent Rick Reo said Martin stood out during the interview process for his experience, work ethic, student-centered approach, and commitment to building positive relationships.

“Scott brings valuable leadership experience, a strong special education background, and a clear commitment to students and families,” Reo said. “We are excited to welcome him to Bloomingdale Elementary and believe he will be a positive addition to both the school and the district leadership team.”

Mr. Martin is looking forward to getting to know Bloomingdale Elementary students, staff, families, and community members.

“I am excited to see what we can do together to support our students and families,” Martin said.
