ag day

Bloomingdale second graders recently participated in the annual Ag Awareness Days at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds, an event that continues to be a highlight for the Van Buren Tech Agriculture & Natural Resources Program.

More than 800 second grade students attended the event, where Van Buren Tech students led interactive, hands-on learning stations focused on agriculture and natural resources. Bloomingdale students explored 14 different stations covering a wide variety of topics connected to everyday life and the agriculture industry.

Students had the opportunity to:

  • Learn about different farm animals and interact with them firsthand

  • Plant their own plants

  • Explore careers in agriculture

  • Weigh chicken eggs

  • Learn how milk is produced and distributed

  • Discover the crops Michigan is known for

  • And much more!

The experience gave students a fun and engaging look into the important role agriculture plays in our communities while encouraging curiosity through hands-on learning. Thank you to everyone who helped organize this memorable educational opportunity for our students!
