Students in Mrs. Wengerâs NASA Science class and Mr. Bobalikâs Introduction to Engineering class had a unique opportunity to learn from one of their own. Bloomingdale High School alum and recent University of Michigan graduate Gustavo Silva returned to campus to share his journey from Bloomingdale to the world of aerospace engineering.
Gustavo spoke with students about his path through education, highlighting the experiences that helped shape his interests in science and engineering. He also shared insights into his current work at Intuitive Machines in Houston, Texas, where he works as a space engineer designing systems that support the launch of satellites and other objects into orbit.
Students were engaged as Gustavo discussed both the challenges and rewards of pursuing a career in STEM, offering a real-world perspective on how classroom learning can translate into exciting opportunities beyond high school. His visit served as a powerful reminder of whatâs possible with curiosity, dedication, and hard work.
We are grateful to Gustavo for taking the time to return to Bloomingdale High School and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
