Mr. Tansey

Bloomingdale Public Schools is pleased to announce Chuck Tansey as the new principal of Bloomingdale Elementary, following his official approval by the Board of Education on July 28. Mr. Tansey brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including roles as a teacher, principal, coach, and instructional leader.

He most recently served as Assistant Principal and teacher at Whitefish Township Community Schools in Paradise, Michigan. His prior leadership experience includes nine years as principal at Edison Environmental Science Academy in Kalamazoo and work in school improvement at the national level.

“Chuck’s collaborative leadership, positive energy, and deep commitment to student success really stood out,” said Superintendent Rick Reo. “We’re excited to welcome him to the BPS team.”

A native of nearby Lawrence, Tansey said returning to a small-town district feels like coming home. “I’ve already felt incredibly welcomed by everyone I’ve met,” he shared. “Even in a short time, I feel like part of the Bloomingdale family.”

As the new school year approaches, Tansey is eager to dive in. “I’m excited to meet our students, support our amazing staff, and work closely with families. I look forward to building strong relationships that help every child thrive.”

Families will have the opportunity to meet Mr. Tansey at Bloomingdale Elementary’s Open House on Tuesday, August 19, from 5:30–7:00 p.m.
